Aphrodisiacs

For many aphrodisiacs are a real sexual pleasure. Oysters, mandrake root, Spanish fly. All sorts of things and for all sorts of reasons. Look at the oyster here. There isn’t much to say, it clearly looks like a woman’s vagina. Aphrodisiacs were often chosen because they resembled either female or male genitalia and they were thought to enhance sexual desire and performance by the mere fact that they resembled the body parts that they do.

Now oysters do have a good amount of zinc in them, which is thought to increase libido. But not just the site of them, but the salty taste and smell of the sea can also be said to be similar to a woman’s intimate parts.

Oysters and mandrake root are not harming anyone, but sadly over the centuries many animals have been needlessly killed in the search for the most powerful aphrodisiacs. Ones have used everything from deer penises to bear gallbladders. Most are just in the mind of the one consuming them, it’s mainly the power of suggestion.

Sensual foods like chocolates, a common Valentine’s Day gift, are much safer and less cruel aphrodisiacs to try and see if they work. Many of these foods like chocolate do actually have chemical compounds in them that are similar to ones our bodies make when in love or aroused. But they are usually in such small amounts, it’s negligible that any real effect is gotten. Stick to the oysters, chocolates and herbal supplements. No harm there….
